League of Legends is no stranger to the Esports scene as the game has one of the most viewed and engaging competitive tournaments and championships to date. Given its huge popularity, LoL has separate Championships spanning several continents with major regions all competing within their respective leagues.

One such championship is the League of Legends EMEA Championship (or LEC) which debuted on the 13th of January, 2024. The Winter Split kicked off with a total of 3 days back to back with intense and memorable games that sparked the start of League of Legends Season 14 and reignited the passion of fans for the upcoming international events as well.

With that being said, the LEC Winter 2024 Week 1 Games set new records as the debut of the newest team to join the LEC, Karmine Corp brought over a huge influx of fans rooting for their favorite players to achieve glory in this very competitive environment.

Esports Charts recently shared some very impressive statistics regarding the first week of the LEC in 2024. A very impressive increase in both peak viewers as well as hours watched. This success is attributed to major regional streamers like kamet0 and ibai who helped to further spread awareness and love for LoL as the French and Spanish communities sat down to watch their representatives compete.

The first week of LEC Winter 2024 finished with 741.4K Peak Viewers. This is 33,5% more than the best result for the entire LEC Winter 2023 season. Also a new record for the LEC regular stages — only the playoff matches attracted more viewers.

The production of the LEC has also dramatically increased over the years, as the announcement of their new and revamped Riot Games Arena further enhanced the viewing experience for fans both at the venue and online.

The amount of passion and dedication over at the LEC translates very well for fans of the game as not only does the on-air cast bring a lot of personality and charm to the competitive games but everyone else involved in making the LEC what it is showcases how Esports should be done on a professional level.
