C9 vs FNC Games Overview

Game 1

Both teams have a rivalry spanning 10 years in professional play, having met 5 times for Bo3 series at League of Legends World Championships hosted by Riot Games.

The match started pretty convincingly for C9 as Fudge was able to quickly accelerate a lead against Oscarinin, shifting the game in C9's favor. Although the LCS team did not do anything flashy, they were able to punish the LEC's aggression, ultimately resulting in a 10K gold lead for the better part of the game. FNC banked on Humanoid pulling the team back into relevancy, but there was no ample opportunity for Orianna to shine.

FNC being pushed into a corner, opted to pick fights whenever possible their jungler, Razork, was able to pull off some successful plays with Lee Sin, including stealing Baron in a clutch fight. Composition-wise, FNC's Noah picked Ezreal again, but was unable to scale up to become useful as C9 was able to isolate him in several teamfights, and Oscarinin's Jax did not get an opportunity to pressure side lanes. 

Fudge's Rumble was absolutely the MVP of the 40-minute game with fans criticizing the sloppy plays and questionable decision-making of both teams. Unfortunately, FNC's attempt to stall out and stabilize the game were in vain as C9's shaky late game performance finally resulted in their win with the match going 1-0.

Game 2

The second game started with a very close skirmish in top river as FNC was able to score First Blood in a tight 3v3. In comparison to Game 1, the flow of the game was evenly balanced between both teams with FNC having the slight edge for the bigger part of the match. FNC was able to pull off a good tight between C9's top lane turrets by further increasing their lead during the mid game with C9's Berzerker quickly fleeing the scene to push mid lane. 

Humanoid's Syndra was able to foster great picks for FNC as the typical Western Baron coinflip went in FNC's favor, allowing the team to push their advantage. With C9's support, Zven, going for an amazing Magnet Storm from Rell, but unfortunately there was no follow-up on the side of LCS's team.

C9 was then able to punish FNC's impatience and aggression again by picking up two crucial kills onto Razork and Humanoid and slowing down the LEC's team advance onto their base with C9's Blaber trying his best to contain the push. Following a last-ditch effort and flank TP from Fudge's Renekton, FNC was able to clean up C9 and finish the game equalizing the series 1-1. 

Game 3

C9 started off strong by scoring First Blood, but both teams were doing questionable plays as Razork opted for unfavorable fights allowing C9 to gain a gold advantage. Despite C9's support player, Zven, FNC were able to capitalize and escape Alistar's engage.

With a great teamfight and turnaround for FNC at Dragon, Noah and Trymbi, FNC's support, were able to perfectly execute C9 whilst also obtaining Dragon Soul Point allowing the LEC team take over the game whilst not only gaining the gold advantage but secured them Baron as well. C9's mid laner, Emenes, was unable to use Leblanc to her full potential, as his roaming potential was quickly squashed. 

FNC was able to keep up their momentum by also securing Infernal Soul and decimating C9, further steamrolling their opponents by forcing the LCS team into unfavorable teamfights. FNC used the opportunity to secure Elder Dragon and finally defeating C9, finishing the series 2-1. Humanoid was the MVP of the series with Noah having an amazing performance the final game.

MAD vs WBG Games Overview

Game 1

Contrary to popular opinion, MAD were able to gain an advantage against WBG with the LEC roster being deemed one of the worst performing teams at Worlds from the Western teams, MAD want to prove a point why they qualified in the first place.

Nisqy showed an amazing performance during the early and mid game, however he was caught out often and chain CC'd in teamfights without being able to be effective at later skirmishes. 

Despite gaining the advantage over LPL's 4th seed, the LEC's 3rd seed was unable to capitalize on the opportunity to defeat WBG as after a long game of skirmishes and back and forths, WBG was able to lead the series with 1-0.

Game 2

With close skirmishes in the early game, a bloodbath on bot lane started off the game as Elyoya and Light were able to both grab double kills. MAD's jungler was looking for kills and to prove himself that their lost in Game 1 was simply a fluke. 

As promising as MAD's performance looked at the beginning of the game, WBG were able to gain a steady and convincing advantage against the LEC's team. One of the weak points of Western teams is using Baron effectively, as Eastern teams were always able to make the most out of the buff and extend their lead and suffocating any potentials for a comeback.

After a final heroic attempt from Razork trying to flank WBG and focus down Light, the fight and game ultimately went to WBG with the series ending 2-0. WBG as one of the tournament's wild cards was able to reverse MAD in the first game and capitalize on their mistakes as the second game was marked with calm and precise plays leading to eliminating the Western team.

Following the great games from Day 6 and the elimination of C9 and MAD from the World Championship, Day 7 will have some banger matches from the Eastern teams:
