Mauga
A key component of Mauga’s strength so far has been his high damage output for a frontline bruiser. However, this recent patch takes direct aim at that advantage. Additionally, more sustained fire is required to activate the Incendiary debuff on enemies.
NERF
Incendiary and Volatile Chainguns
- Chaingun damage was reduced from 5 to 4.
- The number of shots with the Incendiary Chaingun to ignite enemies increased from 10 to 15.
While still packing a punch, Mauga’s signature ultimate will not lock down team fights as long either after this patch. The developers have shortened Cage Fight’s duration.

With his opponent imprisonment curtailed, Mauga loses some crucial control over late engagements. Nimble damage dealers have more opportunity to use mobility moves to play around the outer walls as well once released.
The Overwatch team continues monitoring Mauga’s power level closely. But for now, these adjustments force players to be more selective about their chaotic brawling approach.
Passive play while building Incendiary stacks seems essential. Ultimately, adopting a conservative early style may now be required to set up the big damage when Cage Fight comes online.
