The Apothecary Diaries Episode 20: Release Date, Where to Watch & More

The latest episode of The Apothecary Diaries features some very shocking scenes and left us worried about Maomao's condition. The Apothecary Diaries Episode 19: Recap

At the beginning of The Apothecary Diaries Episode 19, Lihaku visits Maomao while she is working. He then informs her that someone has stolen ceremonial tools from the warehouse. It turns out that the warehouse's security has weakened lately because all the managers have been involved in various accidents. Maomao grows suspicious of these incidents and considers the possibility that they might have been plotted.

Lihaku then shows Maomao a smoking pipe that originally belonged to an old court lady whose identity is unknown. He describes the lady as tall and with a distinctive smell of medicine. Maomao begins to speculate whether the incidents were deliberate or not.

She also thinks to herself that Suirei fits Lihaku's description well but realizes she needs more proof to connect her to the case.

Maomao then confides in Jinshi about the recent events and her suspicions. He asks her to resolve the case and offers her an "ox bezoar" medicine as a reward if she succeeds.

Maomao heads to the archival building to conduct research and discovers that all the victims are somehow connected to ceremonial activities and the Board of Rites.

A worker from the archives assists her and shares his experience as a Board of Rites-related worker. He reveals that he was demoted by his superiors after expressing concerns about the conditions of the altar in the Sapphire Sky ceremonial building.

Maomao realizes that the altar's weak construction could endanger the person beneath it during ceremonies. Upon learning that a ceremony is scheduled for that day, she rushes to the Sapphire Sky building to warn the participants of the potential threat.

When she tries to enter the building, she is stopped by a guard and even gets hit. Suddenly, Lakan appears and helps Maomao pass the guards. She enters the ceremonial room and saves a noble person just before the top of the altar falls. Maomao injures her leg as a result of her heroic action and realizes that the noble she saved is Jinshi.
